Comcast Island--It's Comcastic!

Last week I reported on something new so this week I'm focusing on something that's been around for a while -- Comcast Island (aka, Comcastic!).

Most corporate regions are pretty tame; an impressive building or two, some information booths, maybe a few souvenir kiosks, and a meeting area (auditorium or conference rooms). Decidedly different, Comcastic! is all about two things: entertainment and SPEED. Not surprisingly, the focus of all the attractions on Comcastic! is going fast. Their mission, after all, is to associate their brand with speed in your mind. To that end they have provided a variety of attractions all focused on racing competitions.

EMH Motor Speedway

EMH Motor's new speedway is a challenge any seasoned SL driver can appreciate. This is not a newbie course, with a healthy number of sharp corners and hairpin turns. A well-scripted car, as well as practice in shifting and decelerating effectively, will be necessary to navigate this course successfully with any regularity. While my EMH Lamby navigated well in race mode, the tight turns and short straightaways also make this track especially suitable for Formula One racing. One quirk about the track is the creator's use of terrain – going off-road on many turns will send you airborne quite easily, while there are also flat areas suitable for a break in the action or from practice. A great track for the SL racing enthusiast!

Eccentricity

I discovered Eccentricity while visiting Whimsy and I found a wonderful couple of sims being built. I messaged the owner, Leaf Shermer. She mentioned to me that she would be finished building in a few days and to message her back!

Whimsy

Lord Coalcliff handed me this really neat notecard the other day with some LMs for me to go visit. I told him I would definately check out the places, and quite possibly blog them!

The first place on this list that made me take great notice and think "Wow...this would be a great LM of the Day" was Whimsy. As this sign says "Odd, fanciful, capricious, flighty, unpredictable...Welcome to the sim with a sense of humor."

Madcow Madhouse!

Madcow Cosmos has his high prim art on display at Callistei. His work (and his words) always make me think and chuckle! "Included are some of my favorite high prim beauties many of which I've never included in a display yet, so I'm happy to get them out of my inventory and get them some fresh air (and no, I have no idea what that smell in my inventory is from although I assume not everything I made started off as a skeleton)". See this exhibit before it's gone!
It's a Madcow Madhouse!

Prim Hearts Amusement Park

Prim Hearts From the moment you walk in and hear “Cold drinks here, cold drinks!”, “Alright folks! Step in and win!”, and “Step right up ladies and gentlemen” you feel as if you are really in an amusement park! Even the log ride/rollercoaster clanks and clatters as it rises up to give you the thrill ride of a slifetime. While looking for the rollercoaster I found an underwater round trip boat ride. There were many amusement park attractions here, not just for enjoying but also if you want to buy them for your place of amusement! Have a fun day everyone!

Parsec

PARSEC!! I have been waiting for a little while to write this one up. Creators Dizzy Banjo, Eshi Otawara and Chase Marellan have perfected art, sound and scripting into an experience you'll not want to miss! This space allows you to interact with voice in a way not yet done in Second Life. You will enter a platform to read the instructions, and gather the proper materials and gestures before entering the actual PARSEC space.

***READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS***
I can't stress this enough. You will not “get” the whole idea of Parsec if you just TP and visit...it's fully interactive and requires you to use voice. Another thing: to fully take part in Parsec, you will need to bring along 6 friends who also use voice, or just show up there and wait for 6 strangers you will go through it with. There can be more people there than 7 at a time, but it’s best as a group of 7! This makes this a very difficult landmark of the day to drop down to you all…seeing that there are about 1000 active members! I strongly encourage you to visit the follow pages about Parsec: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2008/01/speaking-in-lig.html
