One day while on a sailboat ride, Relic Starbrook and I started a conversation about all the unique places Second Life had to offer. From that conversation an idea was born - bring all these great places to friends using in-world group notices. That day was August 10, 2007.Since that time, The Best of Second Life has grown to be more than just giving landmarks to friends.
Shortly thereafter, I met 57 Miles, owner of Things to Do group in Second Life, and discussed with him the similarities of the two groups. Rather than seeing one another as competition, we developed a partnership where I began providing the content for Things to Do. Eventually, Things to Do was turned over to me entirely, and I continued providing landmarks of the day to each group. Shortly before the New Year arrived, I considered redesigning my website, as well as merging the two groups together.
Now this is the product of my efforts! The group SL Things to Do will be the in-world group for notices and landmarks. This website will continue to offer LM of the Day in blog format, but it will also allow you to rate the landmarks and more deeply comment on your experience of them.
I'd like to thank a few people for making this change over happen smoothly. Zachh Cale has made this a beautiful website for us to use and enjoy! Many thanks to my board of advisors for their insights, suggestions and ideas from the beginning—Relic Starbrook, Gray Beam, Onder Skall, Araucano Janus, and Carter Giaciobini! And most importantly, many thanks to the group members of each group—now we are one!
Without the sincere interest of many group members, I might have abandoned this effort long ago-so thank you for your desire to see this grow, and inviting your friends to join the new SL Things to Do. Lastly, thank you for visiting and contributing to this website :) See you all on the grid!
