About a week ago I got a notecard from SL Things to Do group member, Transparent Banshee, telling me about a group of sims called the United Sailing Sims. Here you can explore four sims, Greenhouse, Foliage, Mare Nostrum and Mar Menor. Surrounding these sims is the Blake Sea, and it makes a really wonderful place for photography.
While I was visiting and exploring I was most impressed by two separate things. The first being the Greenhouse area. I haven't been in such an exquisite greenhouse in Second Life before, and it was very reminiscent of greenhouses found only at the worlds best botanical gardens.
As I continued wandering I came to the Mar Menor region and the Piranesi Bridge. Transparent actually met me over there to give me some more information! He said, "This building and the nearby bridge are both built in honor of the 18th century Italian architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi, architect, artist and engraver and a man with a fantastic knowledge of perspective and proportion, I hope he's not angry with me.... :-)) Born 4th October 1720 in Mogliano Veneto, Italy, dead 9th November 1778 in Rome." This truly is a most amazing build, and I think, Transparent, that if a creator such as Piranesi could have seen your tribute to his work, he'd be very proud!
The Greenhouse area is only a small part of the USS, there are yacht clubs, golf courses, several airports, and a lot to see, go find Hollywood and the Starboards
Yacht Club, buy a boat or an airplane and tour the area, visit Nantucket and the New England sims, take a walk in the beautiful harbour at Sailors Cove, or sail in the Blake Sea, there is a lot to do here.. and of course play some golf at the Holly Kai Golf Club...:-) I must get back to wandering here, there seems to be more to explore and discover. I hope to see you in my journeys!

Greenhouse & Mare Nostrum Win SL Awards
I'm pleased to announce that both Greenhouse and Mare Nostrum won awards from The Great Sailing Adventure in October 2009.
In the MOST IMPRESSIVE SIGHTS AWARD category, Greenhouse placed 3rd and Mare Nostrum 4th.
In the MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES AWARD category, Greenhouse placed 6th.
It was a pleasure to tour both locations, and a wonderful place to return often for art shows, learning about nature and architecture and more. The views are breathtaking and the attention to detail inspiring. My thanks to Transparent Banshee for helping to make Second Life a more interesting, enjoyable, educational and beautiful place to spend our time.

I've been exploring SL for over 3 years now. Greenhouse is an awesome "find". Between your site here, and the great resource called Destination Station on the Corona Cay sim, I can explore excellent sims like this for ummmmm......... a LONG time! Thanks for a great site.

United Sailing Sims
Ty Jenn for putting the searchlight on us ! Just wanted to say that Greenhouse is
one small part of the big recreational area that is the United Sailing Sims...
We have few banlines (if any), and free sailing, boating and hanging out for everyone..just
as you are nice to your fellow man and don't expose her/him to anything unasked for..
