My journey begins on a smelly fishing vessel, that is safe, yet I am quite relieved when we dock. As I depart the fishing boat, I'm happy to be smelling the fresh salt water air, and not the dead fish that made the voyage with me! I have finally arrived at Pathfinder Islands!

Pathfinder Islands is a set of sims, right now two, that are the virtual world work associated with online learning platform for the Institute of Human Development out of the UK. This organization offers leadership, coaching and training to countless individuals and teams. Their Second Life work reflects their vision, ideas and innovative ways to reach their audience.

So why would you want to go there? Because it's breathtakingly beautiful. Not often do you see a real life company creating such a place of exploration and enjoyment. Of course you will encounter the reasons they're in world, but these items are things that can teach all of us something about ourselves as learners, thinkers and "do'ers" in the real world.

As you wander the sims, and expore what they have to offer, keep their quote from their website in mind. What is a pathfinder?
"Pathfinders can be found at all levels and in all corners of an
organisation. They come in countless shapes, sizes, creeds and colours.
About the only things they have in common is that they have a positive
impact on the people around them, and they make a disproportionate
contribution to their organisation or community.
Pathfinders are not stuck in old ways of thinking; they are able to
manage change exceptionally well. They infect others with an optimistic
can-do approach. They are resilient and deal with delay, disappointment
and disaster better than others.
Pathfinders are the positive future of an organisation if they are
supported and encouraged to shape a new culture for a new economic
reality."

The Arrival and Information Point do guide you to many of the places you can see at Pathfinder Islands, however if you have time I highly suggest wandering around, even walking these sims. Other attractions are associated with their 7 Elements Journey, however you can find many treasures, like the ruins, the library and more!

All these photos you have seen can be viewed on the SLTTD Flickr page. I hope you will join the group and add your own, too! I think you'll enjoy this journey to today's LM of the Day. I know I have been!
